when is your store opening?
I’d like to get a few moleskines and wood portraits finished before I open it so I think around June! I’ll have some prints up as well so if anyone has any print suggestions let me know :-)

Printed off my zines yesterday and they turned out pretty awesome! I ended up using acrylic gouache for the covers and it printed out super nice.

If anyone is going to TCAF this year these will be sold there, and I include a random little portrait in each zine package (like what’s shown above but wearing different animal hats aWWW YISS).

If you can’t make it to TCAF I’ll be selling them in my store in a month or so as well!

Artists for Animals is a group of individuals who believe that art provides a tangible means of helping others. Art moves people, ignites imaginations and inspires action. Our goal is to use this fantastic medium, and your support, to save lives.

Animals have always served as a source of inspiration to artists. From Stone Age rock paintings to 21st century creations, we have thousands of years of works featuring the animals that share our lives. They intrigue us like no other subject and we have shared our world with them for as long as we have been creating art. Yet, animals suffer horrible injustice at our hands.

We want to use this as an opportunity to thank animals for the inspiration and love that they give us so generously.

We work alongside organizations that are dedicated to improving the lives of animals. Through our events we hope to showcase their work to the public and give these groups, and the individual animals under their care, exposure that they desperately need.

Your support is vital to the success of Artists for Animals. Please allow yourself to be moved by our work and the knowledge that your support helps secure the safe futures of the animals that give us so much.

Help support animals and these talented artists (myself included). Lindsay Campbell is one of the lovely people organizing/supporting this and it’s gonna be so great <3!! Those of you in Montreal should definitely check the show out in person!

EXCUSE U DYLAN

One time all I had to buy was a tube of yellow but I still wanted to cry, like THERE GOES MY FOOD MONEY FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK. But also gouache is amazing.

jesus how much is the yellow?? do I have to sell my soul for it? you guys make it seem like i need to sell all my possessions for yellow gouache. I WON’T DO IT!!!

sorry for all the gouache posts you guys omg I just have a lot of gouache feelings and it’s like 1 am so what do you expect me to post.

Ahh did you buy acrylic gouache or normal gouache? Dayum that's pretty expensive ;-;

ACRYLIC. I don’t want the normal one because then it’s water soluble RIGHT??? IDK I felt like the acrylic one would be better, otherwise it’s just an opaque watercolour and i hate using watercolour.

~~~~~~I’ll let you use it if you draw me things, Niya ~~~~~~~
Yeah... but they are soo pretty! I totally fell in love when I did the ranges from purple to yellow, all those gorgeous bronzes and the like. I think it will suit your work brilliantly. My instructor kept saying, "make sure it's the consistency of ice cream" which drove me nuts because then I was always wanting ice cream. I think the most expensive one I had to buy was a yellow.
Ahh good!! I’m excited to use them. I never really know how to explain gouache but they’re totally ice cream now. forever.
I took a Color and Design class and we had to buy like 24 tubes of gouache, including some of the more special colors. It was like $475 for just that alone, not counting the brushes, special cleaners, etc they wanted us to have. Such little tubes of paint, so pricey! I feel you pain.
WAT. NO. I- WAT. wow that’s extremely pricey! I definitely want more but I think I need to win the lottery first HAHA. I hope they’re worth it! The colours look SO vibrant and amazing I had to try it at least once (god knows I barely do traditional work as it is).
